Two Untitled Poems

Larry Eigner

1.
birds
    and the foghorn
  how many leaves
                   are

           as the mist
          spreads, slow, dotted
                    slight green

                    in the trees
                                       the wind's leg
                              briefly rain

2
gulls
the wind
is level

the grass left
to itself long
             growth

     the small lighthouse
                    quiets
                    in the day-time

    antenna
       on the outer rail
