Bell Tower

Vicente Huidobro

A bird flew
with every stroke of the bell

Birds with reversed wings
                                          that die between roof tiles

Where the first song fell
In the depths of the afternoon
                                              the vegetal flames

The heart trembles in every leaf
And a star lights up with every step

                        Eyes keep something
                        Trembling in the voice

On the horizon
                        a clock spills
